White oak cut end-grain, which gives a knife edge somewhere to go instead of dulling against a flat-grained surface. A shallow groove around the edge holds what runs off a resting roast, and rubber feet stop the board sliding mid-chop.

Materials
End-grain white oak blocks bonded with food-safe adhesive, forty by twenty-eight centimetres and thirty-five millimetres thick, with a routed juice groove and four rubber feet.
Care
Hand wash warm and dry it standing on edge — never in a dishwasher, never flat in a wet sink, which is how a board warps into a cup. Re-oil with food-grade mineral oil whenever the surface starts to look dry.
